Special hibiscus varieties at Heinje: ‘Big Hibiskiss®’ and ‘Little Hibiskiss®’

Hibiscus lovers can choose between giant flowers or compact plants

With its brightly coloured blooms, hibiscus brings a touch of summer exoticism to any garden – and all without requiring much care. This versatile plant impresses with vibrant colours, robustness, and a long flowering period, offering the trade strong sales arguments. Baumschule Heinje carries two very special Hibiscus syriacus varieties of its range: ‘Big Hibiskiss’ and, brand new, its “little brother”, ‘Little Hibiskiss’. Both varieties offer unique advantages while sharing the typical strengths of hibiscus.

Lovers of large flowers will be delighted with ‘Big Hibiskiss’: this hibiscus impresses with XL-sized blooms of around 18 cm in diameter in a vivid pink with a wine-red centre. The flowers appear from July through to September, ensuring bright splashes of colour even when other plants are beginning to fade. Its rich, dark-green foliage enhances the intensity of the blooms even more. With its upright, narrow growth habit, ‘Big Hibiskiss’ is ideal for container planting but also makes a striking impression in the border. This hibiscus is robust and winter hardy, thriving in sunny to partially shaded locations. The concept is supported at the point of sale with eye-catching promotional materials, imagery and a printed pot. At Baumschule Heinje, ‘Big Hibiskiss’ is available in 3.4-litre, 6-litre, 10-litre and 16.5-litre pot sizes.

Those with less space—or who simply prefer more compact plants—should have a closer look at the new ‘Little Hibiskiss’. This hibiscus also impresses with its strikingly beautiful blooms, which appear from July to September. Its compact growth of up to 50 cm makes it the perfect choice for containers on terraces or balconies, or as a small eye-catching specimen plant. ‘Little Hibiskiss’ thrives best in sunny to partially shaded areas and is winter hardy down to –25 °C. This new hibiscus comes in white with a striking wine-red centre. At Heinje, it is supplied in a printed 3.4-litre pot, and its distinctive label attracts attention at the point of sale.

Whether large or small – both hibiscus varieties, ‘Big Hibiskiss’ and ‘Little Hibiskiss’, bring a real holiday feeling to any garden with their exceptional flowers and are therefore an essential addition to any specialist garden centre’s assortment.
